Areca Receives Solaris 10 HCL for PCI-X/PCIe SATA ll RAID Controllers
Taipei, Taiwan, December 6, 2005 -- Areca Technology Corporation, a leading provider of PCI-X, PCI-Express SATA ll RAID controllers with Intel RAID 6 inside, today announced that its PCI-X/PCIe SATA ll RAID controller has received Solaris 10 HCL testing. The Hardware Certification Test Suite (HCTS) is the application and set of test suites used to test your hardware to verify that it is compatible with the Solaris OS on x86 platforms. Using this test suite, you can certify your system or component for use with the Solaris OS on x86 platforms. Certification services cover the Solaris 10 OS the Solaris 10 OS, both 32-bit and 64-bit.
The Systems Hardware Certification Program is designed to help system manufacturers demonstrate that their x86 systems, servers, motherboards, and related components are compatible with the Solaris OS on x86 platforms.
Areca has passed the Level 2 Systems Hardware Certification. It enables system manufacturers to certify their systems and motherboards at Level 2 and be eligible to be included in the Solaris OS Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) as Test Suite Certified. Level 2 System Certification runs for approximately 41.5 hours if IPv6 is not enabled. Level 2 System Certification runs for approximately 47.5 hours if IPv6 is enabled.
In the early days, Areca driver had passed Microsoft WHQL. After accumulating years of Microsoft WHQL experiences, Areca is capable of writing its own Solaris 10 device drives to pass Solaris HCL. Areca has same driver for all PCI-X/PCIe SATA ll RAID controller. This certification can apply other SATA ll RAID Adapters that Areca currently ship in the market.
