Taipei, Taiwan, June 6, 2006 -- Areca Technology Corporation, a leading provider of internal and external SATA ll RAID controllers with RAID 6 function, today announced the industry’s first Mac OS X compatible RAID host bus adapter featuring two external infinband ports and PCI-X connectivity at Computex 2006 in Taipei. This high-speed RAID adapter enables customers to connect Areca ARC-1120ML storage solutions to the latest Power Mac G5’s and support multi-stream uncompressed video editing workflows. The RAID adapters works with Mac OS X on any PCI bus-based Mac intended to run those systems.
The ARC-1120ML adapter offers eight SATA ports; two external infinband connectors with each SATA II port at up to 3 Gbps. These ports are independently controlled to maximize performance at all times. It can enable RAID arrays to be fully utilized as high-performance, scalability and reliability storage on Mac Dual-Core systems. It also can meet a clear need for high performance, cost-effective RAID-protected storage for Mac-based digital content creators and editors. The designed for content creation professionals who have outgrown their current array of external FireWire drives, and are ready to explore the world of high-resolution media.
The third party Hot-swappable external enclosures provide effectively unlimited storage capacity, as users are not limited to the two internal drive bays provided with the basic G5 system. With our serial interface, enclosure can support fault and activity in each channel. Designed to increase the performance and lower the cost of digital video and streaming media applications, the introduction of Areca ARC-1110ML/1120ML SATA RAID storage solutions has led to a rapid rise in implementations. The controller with third party external enclosure is committed to offering high-quality, cost effective workflow solutions for post, film, broadcast and digital music production.
