Areca Demonstrates Virtual Disk Service (VDS) Hardware Provider for Their All RAID Controllers
Taipei, Taiwan, May 31, 2006 -- Areca Technology Corporation, a leading provider of internal and external SATA ll RAID controllers with RAID 6 function, today announced that its series RAID controller have featured Windows Server 2003 Virtual Disk Service (VDS) at Computex 2006 in Taipei. With VDS support, different vendor products dramatically simplify storage management in a Windows environment by providing one user interface for any disk array.
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Virtual Disk Service Virtual Disk Service simplifies disk management by enabling the administrator to use a standardized storage management user interface, accessible from any Windows console, to manage both multi-vendor storage arrays and directly attached storage. It also enables the administrator to obtain an aggregated view of all storage, and facilitates several solutions, such as extending disk space without administrator intervention. VDS provides the administrator with the ability to decide how to access the standardized interface through a command line interface (CLI) or third party graphical user interface (GUI) .From direct-attached storage to storage-area networks, and simplifies the configuration of disks. Volume Shadow Copy Service lets users take a snapshot of files at a point in time.
